Calgary - The World Famous Cowboy City

Calgary a Canadian city has something for everyone. It is
known the world over for its cowboy and rodeo status. When
large cities are overrun with crime and poverty in these
times, you will be amazed by the pristine cleanliness of
Calgary. Calgary remains a beautiful city to visit for your
next vacation, as it seems to be untouched by these hazards
of large-city life.

One of the events that Calgary is most famous for is the
Stampede. This annual event began as a rodeo many years ago,
highlighting the cowboys in the area. Today, the Calgary
Stampede has grown to include not only rodeos but is an
event with exhibitions of all kinds, a busy fairway with
exciting rides for the young and old, and a venue for
concerts and fireworks.

Probably one of the favorite events of the Calgary Stampede
is the chuck wagon races. You'll be fascinated as you want
the covered wagons, drawn by horses and driven by a cowboy,
race around the oval. Once you've sampled some of the
rodeo events, you'll want to schedule more of them into
your next visit.

Apart from the Stampede there are many other attractions
that will keep you busy for long time. Heritage Park
Historical Village is a replica of a real village from the
late 1800. A trip to Heritage Park Historical Village is a
definite must. It is a great way for you and your family to
experience life in those times. When you stroll down Main
Street you can watch as blacksmiths fashion horseshoes the
old fashioned way. You can take a ride on the steam
locomotive or take a wagon ride around the village before
stopping to have a meal at the Wainwright Hotel.

Another attraction that you won't want to miss while you're
visiting Calgary is the Glenbow Museum. This museum houses
paintings, sculptures, photographs, and other pieces of art
that feature the history of western Canada. You'll be able
to look at exhibits that chronicle how the paths of the
Native Indians crossed with those of the settlers traveling
from the east.

The Calgary Zoo offers visitors a plentiful display of
birds, reptiles, and mammals. The zoo features a
Prehistoric Park that recreates the history of the
dinosaur. This fascinating zoo let's you spend a day
walking among ostriches, bears, monkeys, and kangaroos. If
you decide not to pack a picnic lunch to eat in the many
picnic areas, rest assured you'll find many dining options
among the many food kiosks around the park.

Depending on what time of the year you visit Calgary, there
are many other attractions in and around the city
that you'll want to make the time to see. Calgary has
many parks that for leisure strolls; or you can rent a bike
or a pair of rollerblades and roll along the pathways that
beside the Bow River.

Many unique shops that feature local crafts crafted by
Calgarians, as well as crafts from areas throughout Canada
can be visited. Many designer boutiques fighting for your
attention can be seen in the downtown area of Calgary.

A trip to Calgary is a trip that you and your family won't
soon forget. Make sure that you find out ahead of time what
concerts or other cultural events are taking place so you
can plan on spending one night of your visit in Calgary at
the theater.
