Traveling through the American West is like feasting on a
panorama of scenic beauty at every bend of the road. Of all
the great places to travel to and visit all over the world,
the American West offers some of the most beautiful and
pristine scenery. Besides natural beauty, you can see cities
rich with culture and art, and participate in many other
activities.
The most beautiful and fascinating places to travel to and
in throughout the American West are the national parks.
Many of the national parks in the United States are located
in the Western states. In fact, five of the most famous
parks (Grand Canyon in Arizona, Yellowstone in Wyoming,
Yosemite in California, Zion in Utah, and Glacier in
Montana) are located in Western states. Utah has more
national parks and monuments within its borders than any
other state. It is a haven for people who like to be out of
doors and for those who enjoy hiking. To travel in Utah
(with its five parks and six national monuments) is to
experience natural wonders meant to be preserved for
generations. Hikers come from all over the world to
challenge themselves in backcountry that is like nowhere
else.
The West not only has beautiful and unique scenery, but many
historical places as well. There is evidence of pre-European
Native American cultures throughout the West. The Anasazi
remains in the Southwest are especially interesting. If you
can manage to get onto the Zuni reservation, located within
the Hopi reservation, you will see many interesting and old
things and enjoy the culture of the West during the 19th
Century, which has its own fascinating history. You will
hear interesting travel stories originating from the ghost
towns throughout the West. You will also encounter ample
evidence of the gold and sliver rushes.
The cities in the American West are beautiful and offer
interesting travel destinations. San Francisco has an
exquisite backdrop of the bay and is famous for its hills
and trolleys. Seattle is a city brimming with many different
cultural experiences near the famous Mt. Rainer. Salt Lake
City is the center of Mormonism, the only truly American
religion. It also offers an interesting view of one of
American's subcultures. Denver is famous for its nearby
skiing and the beautiful mountain views. Cities in New
Mexico, Arizona, and the rest of California offer exciting
experiences. There are also a few theme parks and beaches
available along the West coast.
Whatever be your travel preferences and vacation tastes, you
are sure to find something that fits your needs when you
travel the American West.
